Carcross Community Campus
The Carcross Community Campus has been working with students in the communities of Carcross and Tagish since 1981 when it was opened as one of the three original Yukon College Community Campuses. The campus coordinates closely with the Carcross-Tagish First Nation to deliver programming that meets the needs of CTFN citizens and all residents in the area.
The Carcross Community Campus has one dedicated classroom with a Smart Board, a video-conference room, and a computer lab. A wide variety of adult upgrading, video-conference, and online courses are available to students at the campus, allowing students to pursue full-time or part-time Yukon College programs. According to demand, Red Cross and other employment related certifications such as WHMIS and Enform chainsaw safety are offered. Also full-time employment or pre-employment skills programs are delivered on a regular basis. Examples include an Essential Skills for Food Security program carried out in partnership with the Carcross/Tagish First Nation, and the Outdoor Power Equipment Maintenance and Repair Program. The computer lab is open to the public and the campus organizes evening and weekend non-credit courses such as photography, basic computer skills, and gardening.
