Carmacks Community Campus
The Carmacks Community Campus has provided adult education programs to the Little Salmon Carmacks First Nation people and the wider community of Carmacks since 1986. It is now located within the Little Salmon Carmacks Administration building and continues to be a hub of activity with its focus on meeting the skills training and educational needs of the Carmacks people.
The campus is busy with the delivery of distance learning courses, providing community computer/internet access, test invigilation, career/course advising, and hosting community dinner and lunch meetings. Many short and long term training programs are offered according to demand: Fire Arm Certification (FAC), Wood Working for Women, WHMIS, Standard First Aid, Advanced Wilderness First Aid, Food Safe, and Master Gardening. The Essential Skills for Cultural Artistry program allows students to hone their 9 essential literacy skills while learning cultural arts skills from Elders and community crafters, enabling them to sell their products through a community website and at the Little Salmon Carmacks Interpretive Center.
