Based at the Whitehorse Correctional Centre, and working as part of a Yukon College team engaging and supporting Indigenous youth in Yukon, this position will work directly with Indigenous youth who are in Yukon’s justice system with the goal of aligning the strengths of Indigenous youth offenders with post-secondary education opportunities. This position works with inmates, youth on probation and youth who have been a part of justice system. The incumbent will be required to travel to Yukon communities on a regular basis to offer instruction, services and support to Indigenous youth in rural Yukon.

The incumbent will help students navigate transitions from Whitehorse Correctional Centre, transition homes, group homes, and or rural Yukon settings to post-secondary programs offered in communities, at Ayamdigut campus or by distance.  In collaboration with learner specific supports that are available to each student, including the case manager/ life and career counsellors at Yukon College, this position is responsible for providing guidance and assistance to students and prospective students in identifying their long-term needs and goals and to coach each student in life planning, career planning, and education planning based upon their identified goals.

The successful candidate must have an undergraduate degree in a related field and experience teaching.  Candidates with an acceptable combination of experience and education may also be considered.
Candidates must have the ability to pass a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) security check.
