Yukon College is looking for qualified individuals to teach in one or more of the following courses on a casual basis in the following program areas:

GEOL 104: Communication and Career Search
This introductory course will help students develop the communication and study skills necessary to successfully navigate the landscape of the mineral industry and is framed around helping guide students through the hiring process, from initial job search to final interview. In this course, students will learn about employment opportunities in the exploration and mining fields.

Duties:

  • Instruct in a lecture-based setting for 3 hours weekly;
  • Meet the course learning outcomes by delivering current, interactive and engaging course content;
  • Grade and provide feedback on student work.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred candidate will have experience working in Human Resources in the mineral industry or a related field;
  • Certificate or diploma in Human Resources Management considered an asset.

GEOL 105: Physical Geology Laboratory Instructor
Course topics include: minerals, igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks weathering, erosion and depositional systems, earth composition and structure, and plate tectonics. Laboratory sessions concentrate on mineral and rock identification and interpretation of topographic and geologic maps.

Duties:

  • Instruct in a laboratory-based setting for 3 hours weekly;
  • Meet the course learning outcomes through the delivery of safe, interactive and hands-on laboratory exercises;
  • Grade and provide feedback on student work;
  • Liase with the lecture instructor to ensure consistency between sections.

Qualifications:

  • M.Sc. or higher in Geology or a similar field;
  • Experience teaching at the post-secondary level is considered an asset.
