Brown Bag Lunch: Speaker Series

MEET DR. CHRIS SOUTHCOTT, YUKON COLLEGE RESEARCH ADJUNCT AND LEAD RESEARCHER ON THE RESOURCES AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN THE ARCTIC (ReSDA) RESEARCH NETWORK.

Can resource development be sustainable in the north?  How do resource developments affect people and communities in the North?  Can we reduce the negative effects and improve the benefits from these developments?

The ReSDA network is asking these questions and working to provide some of the answers.

Dr. Chris Southcott will share some of the key research projects from Yukon, including a project to determine where the revenue from mining developments ends up. The Yukon economy is being used as a model to start to understand where the money earned during the resource extraction process goes and to what extent funds stay in the region.

Join Chris as he shares some of the ReSDA network research that is happening in the Yukon and across the north.
