Information Technology & Learning Commons
In 2015 we merged 3 departments, the Library, IT and the Teaching and Learning Centre into a single division known as the IT & Learning Commons, or ITLC. Connecting these 3 areas creates a significant opportunity and helps overcome challenges faced in the more traditional arrangements. While IT still focuses on ensuring a solid information and technology infrastructure for the whole institution, we are able to move all our enterprise technical solutions into a thoughtfully designed environment supported by a new Service desk operation. The Library no longer needs to be managing technology or software licenses, freeing them up to explore and innovate with many of the emerging approaches to open resources. The Teaching and Learning Lab (affectionately referred to as TL2) is now better placed to support instructors and staff in an environment with increasing cross-over between technology, pedagogy, access to resources etc.
This team is focused on ensuring the stability and security of all critical information systems as well as continuously seeking to improve access to relevant systems. There are a number of significant projects underway that will improve the student and instructor experience as they engage with technology.
Teaching & Learning Lab
This team is constantly seeking ways to better support instructors. Whether it be coaching, workshops or facilitating open forums and showcasing great examples, this team is committed to excellent teaching and learning.
This team offers research support and some general services to students, staff, instructors, and the general public. Finding relevant information sources, borrowing books, accessing databases, using mobile audiovisual equipment, photocopies, fax, and copyright are just some of the areas the Library team can help you with.
