I’ve been the part-time managing editor of the Northern Review since 2007. I came to the journal with a multidisciplinary background in administration, editing, publishing, research, and writing in the university, government, and non-profit sectors.

In addition to over 30 years of working in academic editing and publishing, other editing projects have included translating specialized text into plain language for public audiences in Canada; working with the University of Oxford Refugee Studies Program on a magazine communicating research to practitioners; and volunteering with public legal education projects in Malaysia.

Before moving to Whitehorse in 2001, I worked at UBC in Vancouver for over ten years. Positions there included research administrator with a multi-year SSHRC-funded research network on Education & Training, and legal analyst with the Faculty of Law’s Artificial Intelligence Research Project.

My personal research projects have included access to justice, the theory and practice of interdisciplinarity, and topics in international law and policy.

I received a BSc (Psychology/Biology) from the University of Alberta and an LLB from the University of Toronto where I was awarded the Immigration Law prize in 1987 and focused self-directed research on Indigenous self-determination and international environmental law.
