This position is responsible for overseeing and facilitating development of career/life plans for Indigenous youth residing in Yukon communities. The incumbent will work one-on-one with individuals to match post-secondary programs and opportunities to increase the participation and completion of post-secondary programs. This position will assist individuals through all the non-academic barriers to success by navigating through issues such as housing, childcare, counselling, nutrition, transportation, and other life challenges. This position will assist individuals in creating a pathway to educational opportunities by guiding them through self-assessments, interest inventories and identification of personal goals for career development.

The incumbent will monitor individualized learning plans, and provide support to optimize student health and well-being in a manner that promotes increased independence and places a priority on individual choice. As part of this role, the incumbent will communicate with individuals regularly to mediate concerns and to create and monitor academic and personal goals.  In collaboration with learner specific supports that are available to each student, this position is responsible for providing guidance and assistance to students and to coach each student in life planning, career planning, and education planning based upon their identified goals.

The successful candidate must have an Undergraduate degree in Education, Sociology, Psychology, etc. Master degree in a related discipline may be considered an asset.  Candidates with an acceptable combination of experience and education may also be considered.  A valid driver’s license is required.
